Questions Frequently Asked

WHAT IS A COLONIC?
A colonic, or colon irrigation is a process used to flush out toxins and waste from the large intestine.  Purified oxygenated water is used to promote elimination and restore the colon to a balanced state.

THIS IS MY FIRST COLONIC.  WHAT SHOULD I DO TO PREPARE?
You should eat “light” the day of your colonic.  Avoid excessive carbohydrates and sugar.  Do not drink caffeine.  You will need to arrive for your first appointment at least 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time to fill out some preliminary paper work.

[RETURN]

WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENS DURING THE PROCEDURE?
Once you have changed into your hospital gown and gotten on the table, a tube will be gently inserted into your rectum.  The water, via gravity, gently flows into your colon.  Once enough water has flowed in, ou will have the urge to expel the water and waste.  It’s important not to “hold” the water.  You should expel the water/waste as soon as you have the urge.  The waste is immediately washed away, so there is no odor to worry about.

[RETURN]

WILL I HAVE TO TAKE OFF ALL MY CLOTHES?
You will be provided a hospital gown, and obviously, you will need to disrobe from the waist down.  Some people are more comfortable wearing nothing under their gowns, while others prefer to keep on their t-shirts, bras, etc.  You can decide whether you disrobe completely under your gown, but you will have nothing but the gown on from the waist down.

IS A COLONIC LIKE AN ENEMA?
During an enema, the tube inserting the water must be removed so that the water/waste can be expelled.  During a colonic, this is not necessary.

[RETURN]

HOW LONG WILL A COLONIC LAST?
An average colonic lasts 30 to 45 minutes.  Plan on staying an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes for an average appointment.  You will need time to change clothes, settle payment, decide if you’d like to buy any supplements, ask questions, etc.

[RETURN]

HOW LARGE IS THE TUBE THAT WILL BE INSERTED?
A single ¼ tube (the size of a pencil) is gently inserted and the purified water flows into the colon.  The doctors are very well trained and very sensitive to your modesty and comfort.

[RETURN]

DOES THE TUBE STAY INSERTED THE ENTIRE TIME?
Believe it or not, the tube stays inserted the entire time you are receiving your colonic.  Although you will push to expel the wasted, it will actually flow around the tube.  It’s virtually impossible to push out the tube.  It takes time to accept that you can’t push out the tube, but you will grow to trust it in time.

[RETURN]

WILL I BE ALONE WHILE I’M ON THE TABLE?
Once you are set up, the doctors will check on you periodically.  It is not unusual for them to massage your stomach during the procedure.  Again, the doctors are very sensitive to your modesty.  Although it is not likely, should you experience any discomfort or pain during the procedure, you should advise the doctor.

[RETURN]

WILL I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH DIARRHEA LATER THAT DAY?
Contrary to what you may think, if you’ve done a good job expelling the water/waste during your colonic, you should have very little, if any, problem with diarrhea that day.  Occasionally, later in the day, clients report passing mucous or clear liquid during their visits to the bathroom.  You should have no problem driving home or going out after your colonic.

[RETURN]

I’VE HAD A COLONIC BEFORE.  WHAT MAKES THE GRAVITY FLOW TABLE DIFFERENT?
Gravity flow means the purified oxygenated water is carried in a natural way from your rectum to your intestines.  It only allows the water to flow at a rate that the colon can accept, preventing excessive pressure from building within the colon.  It’s a very safe and gently colonic experience.

[RETURN]

HOW WILL I FEEL AFTER MY COLONIC?
After the first few colonics, some people experience and achy, exhausted feeling that passes after a day or so.  This is due to the detoxification process that is going on within the body.  It’s not unusual for clients to want to sleep or rest for a few hours following their colonic.  The more toxins your body is processing, the worse you may feel.  This is why it is helpful to drink plenty of distilled water.  The more distilled water you drink during your post-colonic phase, the better!

[RETURN]

However, after their first few colonics, most clients describe a light, airy sense of well being following their colonic.  They report feeling more energized and “lighter”, both physically and spiritually.  Clients look forward to their appointments and tell us that they consider colonics a vital part of their health care regimen.

[RETURN]

HOW OFTEN DO PEOPLE GET COLONICS?
The number of colonics people receive vary greatly depending on their personal preference, the doctor’s advice, and the distance they have to travel for the colonic.  Clients who live close come biweekly, monthly or as needed.  As you learn to listen to your body, you will realize the schedule that is best for you.

[RETURN]

DOES A COLONIC DEHYDRATE YOU?
No. This is a common misconception.  Colonics actually hydrate the colon because of the liquid the colon is able to directly absorb.
